Places to visit in and around Cockermouth

Kirkgate Arts Centre - (< 1 mile) Cockermouth
This community arts facility is based on a converted Victorian primary school with adjacent car parking. Since open to the public in 1995, it has been run by a specially established charitable trust and volunteers, and offers a range of activities and events including drama, films, dance, workshops and exhibitions.
 
Jennings Brewery - (< 1 mile) Cockermouth
Founded locally back in 1828, the Jennings Brewery Company has been established in the historic town of Cockermouth since 1874. Take a guided tour of the brewery to discover how their real ales are still brewed, and sample some of Jennings' superb Lakeland ales.
 
The Lakes Distillery - (5 miles) Keswick
Located next to Bassenthwaite Lake, The Lakes Distillery has been established within a newly renovated 1850's Victorian Model Farm, producing world class spirits. Take a tour of the site and learn how they create their spirits, including vodka, whiskey and gin.
 
Lake District Wildlife Park - (5 miles) Keswick
Trotters World of Animals now known as Lake District Wildlife Park, this is home to hundreds of friendly animals including traditional favorites, endangered species, birds of prey and reptiles. A great deal is under cover including play areas so rain need not spoil your visit!
 
Whinlatter Mountain Forest - (6 miles) Keswick
